Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about using SaveVDO — platforms, privacy, formats, and troubleshooting.

General

Is SaveVDO completely free?

Yes, SaveVDO is 100% free to use. There are no premium tiers, hidden fees, subscriptions, or daily limits.

Do I need to install any software or extension?

No. SaveVDO works entirely in your web browser on any device — iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac, or Linux. No app or browser extension needed.

Do I need to create an account?

No. SaveVDO never asks for your email, name, or password. Just paste a link and download.

Which platforms are supported?

SaveVDO supports Instagram (Reels, IGTV, Videos), Facebook (Videos, Reels, Watch clips), Twitter/X (Videos and GIFs), TikTok (with no-watermark download), YouTube (MP4 and MP3), and general URL-to-MP4 extraction for many other sites.

What video formats can I download?

SaveVDO primarily extracts MP4 video files and MP3 audio files. Some platforms also offer multiple quality options (e.g., 720p, 1080p).

Is there a file size limit?

SaveVDO does not impose a file size limit on downloads. However, very large files (several GB) may be limited by your device storage or browser download handling.

Privacy & Safety

Does SaveVDO store my downloaded videos?

No. SaveVDO does not host, store, or archive any video files. When you click download, the file transfers directly from the social platform's CDN to your device. Our servers only handle the URL lookup.

Where is my download history saved?

Your download history is saved locally in your browser's localStorage. It never leaves your device and is never sent to our servers. You can clear it anytime from the History page.

Are downloads from SaveVDO safe?

Yes. We extract direct media paths from the source platform — no repackaging, no bundled software, no adware. The download link points directly to the platform's own content delivery network (CDN).

Does SaveVDO track or log my URL submissions?

We do not store submitted URLs in any database. URLs are sent to our server-side API only to retrieve the media URL and are not retained after the request completes.

Instagram

Can I download videos from private Instagram accounts?

No. SaveVDO can only access and download media from public Instagram accounts. Private accounts require login credentials that SaveVDO cannot and does not access.

Can I download Instagram Reels?

Yes. Instagram Reels are supported. Copy the Reel link, paste it into SaveVDO, and download the MP4 without any watermark.

Can I download Instagram Stories?

Stories from private accounts are not accessible. Public account stories may work depending on the API provider's current support. Results can vary.

TikTok

Can I download TikTok videos without a watermark?

Yes. SaveVDO fetches the original source MP4 from TikTok's CDN, which does not contain the TikTok watermark. This is different from TikTok's in-app save feature which stamps a watermark.

Can I download TikTok audio (MP3)?

Yes. After pasting a TikTok URL, SaveVDO displays both MP4 and MP3 download options so you can extract just the audio track.

YouTube

Can I download YouTube videos as MP3?

Yes. After pasting a YouTube URL, choose the MP3 option from the results to download audio only.

Can I download YouTube Shorts?

Yes. YouTube Shorts URLs (youtube.com/shorts/...) are supported in addition to standard long-form video URLs.

Is it legal to download YouTube videos?

Downloading YouTube videos is only permitted for content you own, content licensed under Creative Commons, or content the creator has explicitly allowed for download. YouTube's Terms of Service restrict downloading in general. SaveVDO is intended for personal, fair-use downloading only — never redistribute or monetize downloaded content.

Troubleshooting

Why is my link not working?

The most common reasons are: (1) The post is from a private account. (2) The link is a story or live stream that is no longer active. (3) The URL was copied incorrectly — make sure you copy the full link including "https://". (4) The platform may have temporarily changed how it serves media. Try again after a few minutes.

The video downloaded but has no sound — why?

Some platforms split video and audio into separate streams. If you receive a silent video file, try choosing a different quality option which may include a muxed (combined) audio+video track.

Why did a downloaded file save as a .ts or .blob extension?

This can happen when your browser intercepts a streaming segment. Try right-clicking the download button and selecting "Save link as..." instead of left-clicking. Rename the file to .mp4 after download.

Where do downloaded files go on iPhone?

On iOS Safari, downloaded files go to the Files app (under Downloads or iCloud Drive). You can then tap the file and choose "Save to Photos" to move it to your camera roll.

Where do downloaded files go on Android?

On Android Chrome, files are saved to the Downloads folder. Open the Files app or Gallery app to find them.
